FPG is recruiting for a Network Support Engineer with Cisco / CCNA / CCNP experience and experience supporting RF / Transmission telecom networks. Our client is an established telecommunications company that is expanding their operations team due to continued success and growth. Our client is an established telecommunications company that is expanding their operations team due to continued success in delivering telecommunications solutions and services to a wide variety of sectors – including Military, Government, Transport and Utility markets. This expansion presents an opportunity for 2 Technical Support Engineers to join, learn and grow within an expanding business.
Please note - the preferred candidate will hold an HNC (or higher) in telecommunications or a related field and be eligible for UKSC & NPPV3 clearances (5 years of continuous residence in the UK and have not left the country for more than 6 weeks at a time during this period). Flexibility to travel for fieldwork when necessary is also required.
Experience we’re looking for:
The company specialises in a broad range of advanced networking technologies, including PDH, SDH, Ethernet/IP, MPLS, Optical solutions, DWDM, Cellular and Wireless networks, and LTE-based systems. We also provide and manage SNMP-based network management systems across Linux, Solaris, and Windows platforms. We are seeking a candidate with a fundamental understanding of these technologies and expertise in at least one key technical area.

As part of our commitment to our customers, we provide 24/7 support, so the ability to participate in an out-of-hours support rota is essential. This includes phone and email support, as well as occasional on-site customer visits.
Key Technical Skills
• Expertise in Optical Networks: In-depth knowledge of optical networks and related hardware.
• Proficiency with Test Equipment: Familiarity with a variety of testing tools such as optical power meters, light sources, BERTs, cellular scanners, and multimeters.
• Cellular and Networking Knowledge: Understanding of Cellular RTE, routing and switching protocols, and network synchronization.
• Testing and Documentation: Ability to conduct thorough testing and produce detailed test documentation and reports.
• Fault-Finding Expertise: Experienced in applying effective fault-finding methodologies.
• Fault Ticket Management: Capable of managing the fault ticket process from start to finish.
• Project Management: Ability to administer and execute turnkey projects.
• Remote Network Management: Experience with remote network management platforms.
• Cisco Hardware and Configuration: Experience with Cisco hardware, ideally with CCNA certification or in the process of obtaining it.

• Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and suppliers on technical and project-related issues.
• Microsoft Office Proficiency: Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
