Senior PPA Originator – Romania

A leading international renewable energy company is seeking a Senior PPA Originator to drive its power purchase agreement (PPA) activities in Romania. This company is at the forefront of the energy transition, developing, constructing, and operating renewable energy projects across onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage systems. With a strong presence in multiple markets, the company is dedicated to accelerating access to clean energy.
The Opportunity
This is a senior level role offering the chance to take full ownership of the Offtake & Route to Market strategy in Romania. As the most senior PPA professional in the local team, the selected candidate will play a key role in shaping the company's market position in the region.
The ideal candidate will have a well established network of corporate buyers, utilities, and key stakeholders within the Romanian energy market. They will possess deep expertise in local business practices and power procurement strategies, ensuring successful PPA execution and long term market growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the Offtake & Route to Market strategy for Romania.
- Establish and maintain relationships with corporate buyers, utilities, and brokers to secure term sheets, MoUs, and long form PPAs.
- Manage internal and external project processes, including preparation of materials for PPA RfPs, CfD auctions, and route to market agreements.
- Conduct PPA pricing analysis and provide financial modelling support, often mentoring junior team members.
- Oversee PPA negotiations, including term sheets, exclusivity agreements, and GoO sales agreements.
- Manage due diligence processes and collaborate with legal teams, M&A specialists, and PPA brokers.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and potential cross border PPA opportunities.
- Represent the company at industry events, forums, and stakeholder meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- MSc in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in PPA origination and power markets.
- Proven track record in structuring, negotiating, and executing PPAs.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with a structured, detail oriented approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a senior, market leading role.
- Fluent in English and Romanian.
Desirable:
- Experience in the renewables, wind power, or infrastructure sectors.
- International work experience.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
