FPG has an exciting long-term contract project for Quantity Surveyor within fibre and cabling for a project in the South West of UK. You will eprovides cost and material estimates, draw up projected budgets, and work alongside the project and construction team. Keep track of any design changes and their effect on cost. The Quantity surveyor liaises with subcontractors, construction managers, site supervisors, designers, engineers and other contractors

If you do not live in Cornwall / Devon but you are willing to stay away during the week for the duration of the project (6-12 months), we'd also be interested in hearing from you.

This opportunity will require you to cover sites across Cornwall, this is not a remote/hybrid working opportunity.

Scope:
• Supports to develop, maintain and update all cost related project plans (e.g. Resource, subcontractor, material,…)
• Stakeholder to the Change Control Board / process to review and analyze variation events and define the response strategy
• Builds a solid understanding of the contract and commercial scope and validates pre-sales risk assumptions.
• Reviewing designs, build pack and validating quantity requirements.
• Prepares and reviews quotations including bills of quantities in collaboration with the design team and the client
• Scrutinizing material usage and associated cost
• Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Preparing reports, analysis, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents
• Advising project management, construction management, design team and clients on improvements and new strategies related to efficiency improvements and cost savings
• Advises and reviews work schedules
• Oversees construction teams and subcontractor work at all stages of the construction
• Identify and perform risk, value management and cost control during construction
• Keeping track of and advises planned and actual material usage
• Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets
• Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders
• Advise on a procurement strategy
• Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes
• Traveling from the office to various sites as required.
• Acceptance - value completed work, oversee bills and arrange payments
• Arrange Joint measuring on site
• Identifies, reports and support up-scopes with the Customer Project Management team
• Identifies, reports and support cost improvement and efficiency improvement opportunities.
• Identify deviations from the baseline for progress and cost
• Ensure usage of all project related tools
• Prepare and analyze project costings for quotations, such as materials, quantities, labor and time
• Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will work
• Produce ad-hoc reports as required by the General Project Manager

Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or similar
• Construction estimating or finance experienced is advantageous
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Sound knowledge of construction
• Ability to organize, plan, and strategize
• A valid driver's license.
• + 4 years in PMO experience
• Strong in reporting and analytic skills
• Strong in MS Project/Excel/Word and Database applications
• Able to generate Excel and PowerPoint presentations in comprehensive format
• Good understanding of FTTx architecture and designs
• Preferable/Desirable: RICS certification (bonus, not mandatory)
