Our client is a leader in the offshore wind energy and heavy steel fabrication, specialising in the production of monopiles.
They are looking for skilled Quality Inspectors to ensure the monopile manufacturing processes meet the highest industry standards, guaranteeing structural integrity and compliance with customer specifications.
Locations - EU (require EU passport/visa)
Contract - 3-6 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Monopile Inspection: Conduct thorough quality inspections of monopiles during various stages of production, including welding, coating, and final assembly.
- Dimensional Verification: Ensure monopiles meet precise dimensional tolerances using specialized measuring equipment such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI), and laser scanning.
- Material and Weld Quality Control: Inspect steel materials and welds to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., EN 1090, ISO 3834, DNV-GL guidelines).
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, deviations, and non-conformances while ensuring all quality reports are completed accurately.
- Compliance & Standards: Verify that all manufacturing processes align with customer specifications, safety regulations, and industry codes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production, welding engineers, and quality teams to address defects, recommend corrective actions, and implement quality improvements.
- Final Certification: Support final quality checks and certification processes before monopiles are shipped for offshore installation.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in quality inspection within heavy steel fabrication, offshore structures, or renewable energy sectors.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT), welding inspections, and dimensional control techniques.
- Certifications: Preferred certifications include CSWIP 3.1 (Welding Inspection), NDT Level 2 (UT, MPI, VT), or equivalent.
- Education: Degree or technical qualification in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to detect quality deviations and ensure precision in large steel structures.
- Communication: Strong reporting and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project managers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in offshore wind, shipbuilding, or heavy steel fabrication.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other quality management systems.
- Knowledge of corrosion protection methods, including coatings and cathodic protection.
