First Point Group is recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel for a global telecommunications group. It is essential for you to have AI (Artificial Intelligence) and/or experience with multinational software licensing agreements. This opportunity is at a seniority level where you will provide training on relevant legal and contractual issues to stakeholders and lawyers of a global telecom business. This is an extendable contract opportunity.



 



Mandatory: Law degree, law qualification or qualified as a solicitor or barrister. You must also have previous experience within technology / telecoms.

Scope of Work:



 



You will be joining a new unit within the company’s Group Legal Function focuses on strengthening supplier contracting practices across critical areas, including semiconductor supply, inbound software licensing, and internal IT and outsourcing services. Strong supplier contracts are essential to the company’s continued profitability and success.



 



While the primary focus of this role is supplier contracting, collaboration is key. You will work closely with experienced legal professionals across the organization, particularly in the areas of Products and Technology, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and Global Disputes.



 



What you will do




  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to stakeholders at all levels on supplier selection, contracting, and management.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate supplier agreements and related contracts, adjusting support based on priority.

  • Deliver training on legal and contractual issues to stakeholders and other lawyers within the organization.

  • Identify and escalate risks or concerns regarding contracting practices.

  • Collaborate extensively with colleagues across the global legal community.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the technology behind the company’s products and services.

  • Participate in company-wide contracting improvement initiatives and projects.



 



You will bring




  • Law degree or equivalent qualification from a leading university or law school.

  • Qualification to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction (e.g., solicitor or barrister)

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience as a commercial, technology, and/or corporate lawyer, preferably with a blend of law firm and in-house experience.

  • Experience advising on cross-border matters within complex multinational organizations.

  • Strong risk management skills with a broad and proportionate approach.

  • High integrity, independence, and business acumen.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage internal stakeholders, external counsel, and counterparties.

  • High proficiency in English.



 



Bonus experience:




  • Electronic component and semiconductor supply/licensing

  • OEM software licensing (third-party software for inclusion in company products)

  • Complex IT or facility management outsourcing agreements

  • Large-scale technology sourcing transactions
