Data Centre Tender Consultant

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Centre Solutions Manager to oversee all aspects of data centre tenders. This pivotal role includes understanding client requirements, coordinating with suppliers, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to thrive under pressure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Engagement & Solution Design: Collaborate with clients to identify their data centre needs and recommend solutions tailored to their specifications.
  • Tender Coordination: Manage and track tender submissions, updating the pipeline system with key deadlines and progress.
  • Scope Analysis: Review tender documents to capture essential information for design, sizing, and cost estimation, leveraging specialized tools.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with engineers and draftsmen to develop compliant designs and Bill of Materials (BOM) for accurate project costing.
  • Supplier Management: Identify and liaise with suppliers, secure necessary solutions, and maintain strong vendor relationships to meet project timelines.
  • Cost Analysis & Compliance: Prepare detailed commercial offers, ensuring all terms, conditions, and compliance requirements are clearly documented.
  • Operational Excellence: Organize and maintain tender documentation, refine existing tools, and drive continuous improvement in design and estimation processes.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional service throughout the sales and tendering process.
  • Project Execution: Coordinate resources efficiently to ensure all submissions are timely and meet the highest standards.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Drive to Learn: Curious and self-motivated, eager to understand and master the intricacies of data centre technologies.
  • Technical Understanding: Ability to grasp the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centres and apply mathematical concepts effectively.
  • Excel Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to learn and enhance design tools.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent at building rapport and managing relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Organizational Ability: Skilled in prioritizing tasks, managing time effectively, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written skills, with a focus on client satisfaction and professional relationship building.
  • Adaptability: Open to new challenges, willing to make and learn from mistakes, and driven to deliver exceptional results.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant experience in tender management, data centre design, or project coordination.
  • Backgrounds in engineering (electrical/mechanical), architecture, or quantity surveying are highly beneficial.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
  • Must be willing to travel and hold a valid passport.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary, especially around tender deadlines.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical business practices.
  • Strong respect for process management and data organization.


Remuneration: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, structured on a cost-to-company basis. Candidates will be expected to manage their own benefits, such as medical aid or pension contributions.
