Job Opportunity: Data Center Engineer
Our client is a leading financial firm leveraging cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art research infrastructure to analyze large data sets and optimize their operations. They value teamwork, diversity, and a non-hierarchical culture where everyone is respected and valued.
This role is full-time and permanent, requiring on-call availability outside of shift hours, including weekends and public holidays. Overtime may be necessary during peak periods or for planned maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the entire hardware deployment process, from acquisition to customer delivery.
- Collaborating closely with Network and Infrastructure teams.
- Planning new site designs and upgrading existing sites (including racks, cabling, and hardware placement).
- Coordinating with third-party data centers, colocation, and service providers.
- Providing support for Data Center Operations and offering technical assistance.
- Monitoring the Data Center environment and managing the team's DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) solution.
- Conducting capacity planning and generating reports.
Essential Attributes:
- Prior experience in Data Center Operations, including hardware installation and cabling, across various data center sites.
- Experience with supercomputers and computer clusters.
- Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure and networking.
- Extensive knowledge of server hardware.
- Proactive and positive mindset.
- Strong organizational abilities, including project management.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
Desired Attributes:
- Degree or experience in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Direct Liquid Cooling infrastructure is a plus.
