Position Overview
As the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for all engineering decisions, project design deliverables, and the acceptance of major mechanical and electrical installations for data centres. You will refine and enhance Design and Group Standards based on insights from past projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality, secure, and compliant data centre infrastructure to meet the growing digital needs of businesses.

Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee the delivery of new builds, expansions, and major upgrades of data centres.
- Engineering Decisions: Make critical engineering decisions and manage project design deliverables.
- Compliance: Ensure major mechanical and electrical installations comply with international standards.
- Standards Improvement: Refine and enhance Design and Group Standards based on lessons learned from previous projects.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with local regulations and Group standards.
- Technical Management: Manage technical design phases from inception to hand-over.
- Support: Provide technical support to project managers and sales teams.
- Safety: Ensure safety by design principles are followed during the design and construction process.
Qualifications
- MSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Certified Data Centre Professional certification.
- UTI Tier Designer certification.
- Experience in M&E project design and delivery.
- At least 5 years' experience in critical facility design and delivery.
- Significant experience in commissioning and acceptance of critical facilities.
- Knowledge of critical infrastructure systems, data centre international trends, and the African Data Centre industry.
- Strong technical competence with complex engineering systems.
- Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
